Our Commitment to Transparency
We are a collective of Muslim mental health providers who created the Inclusive Muslim Mental Health Alliance (IMMHA) out of a commitment to serving our diverse ummah. As working clinicians with families and limited capacity, we want to be transparent with you about our intentionality, our values, and the deliberate choices we made in building this resource.
Our Foundation
We created this space with humility and with acknowledgement of the indigenous cultures and communities that have been subject to attempted erasure as a result of colonialism. We acknowledge the mental health industrial complex as it shapes the way we are told we have to heal in order to be productive.
We created IMMHA with the intention of bringing forward all of the rich knowledge our ancestors have already provided for us and that exists still in Brown, Black, queer, and trans communities in the so-called United States.
Every piece of content on this website is the result of intentional and collaborative deliberation. We labored over our identities, our limitations, and the responsibility we hold in this work. Our decision-making process is collaborative. This means that we check with one another, and no one person can make unilateral decisions.
Affirming All Muslim Identities and Centering Intersectionality
We are intentional about affirming all Muslim identities and creating space for those who have been marginalized or erased from mainstream Muslim narratives.
IMMHA represents intersectionality. We are hyper-aware of the Desi and Arab-centric narrative that dominates Muslim spaces, and we actively work to challenge and expand beyond it. (mention our partnerships, HEART, ARC, and our hopes to partner with more Muslim orgs of diverse identities?)
Increasing Access and Building Alignment
Our primary intention is to increase access to mental health resources for folks in marginalized communities who have historically been underserved. We make intentional decisions to connect with individuals and organizations that align with our values of liberation, justice, and authentic inclusivity.
Our Process and Limitations
We want to be honest with you: we are a small team with limited capacity. While we are intentional about what is provided on this website , we cannot fully vet every resource or individual we link to or mention. Our output is sometimes slow because we prioritize thoughtfulness over speed. If you have concerns about any resource on our website, please let us know. We are committed to ongoing learning and accountability.
As we deliberate and create, we hold Palestine, the Congo, Sudan, and all oppressed peoples in our hearts. We are often at a loss for words as to how to capture the significant weight of the horror our siblings face globally.
We ask ourselves: How do we not just give lip service to these issues? How do we move beyond performative inclusivity? Is bringing visibility to the suffering of our siblings enough?
We do not have all the answers, but we commit to:
Actively participating in movements that boycott companies complicit in occupation and harm to oppressed communities
Using our platform to amplify voices from affected communities
Continually examining how our work contributes to liberation, not just representation
An Ongoing Conversation
This transparency statement reflects where we are today. Our understanding, our intentionality, and our work are ongoing processes that we continually update and refine through collaboration and community feedback.
We invite you into this conversation. IMMHA is a collective space, one that we hope will grow and evolve with the input, wisdom, and needs of the diverse Muslim community we serve.

We welcome your feedback, concerns, and ideas for how we can better serve our community.
